The tenth division
Daśāṃśa divides each rāśi into ten portions of three degrees and maps them according to the D10 rule. It is therefore a derived chart, not the current sky and not a new set of planetary longitudes.
Traditional scope
D10 is used in traditional practice to study karma expressed through work, responsibility, contribution, authority, and public action. It should not be reduced to a guaranteed job title or salary level.
A reliable reading order
Establish the D1 tenth house, its lord, relevant grahas, and overall strength first. Then compare those factors in D10, including D10 Lagna and its lord. Timing may indicate when themes become more prominent, but it does not manufacture a result absent from the natal structure.
