Functional role changes with Lagna

A graha's natural symbolism remains, but its ruled houses change with Lagna. The same Saturn carries a different portfolio for Aries and Taurus Ascendants.

02

Retrograde is apparent motion

A negative speed records apparent reverse motion from Earth. Retrograde is not automatically good, bad, or stronger; traditions differ, so the rule must be named.

03

Combustion needs a threshold

Combustion compares angular distance from the Sun with a declared threshold. Because thresholds vary, a production tool must expose the rule instead of hiding it behind an icon.

04

Conditions coexist

A graha may be dignified, retrograde, joined to another graha, and lord of two houses at once. Keep the facts separate; an unexplained percentage creates false precision.

Worked example

Retrograde Saturn

Saturn has negative daily speed.

  1. Record speed.
  2. Keep sign, house, lordship, and dignity separate.
  3. Apply a declared retrograde rule conditionally.
  4. Add timing only later.
The motion is exact; life meaning remains interpretive.
Apply it

Practice on a chart

  1. Write natural and functional roles for one graha in separate columns.
  2. Separate every state fact from its interpretation.
Check your understanding

Can you explain it?

Does retrograde always mean negative?

No. It is an astronomical state with tradition-dependent interpretation.
