A mathematical remapping
A divisional chart divides each thirty-degree rāśi into smaller parts and maps each part to another sign according to the varga rule. The grahas have not moved to a second sky. D9 and D10 positions are derived from the same natal longitudes used in D1.
A specialized interpretive lens
Traditions use different vargas to examine particular dimensions of a chart. The varga adds detail by changing the sign framework through which dignity, lordship, and relationships are considered. It is not a stand-alone replacement for the natal chart.
Small boundaries require care
A D9 division spans 3°20′ and a D10 division spans 3°. Lagna moves quickly enough that a small birth-time error can change its varga sign. Grahas near a division boundary also require exact longitudes and a versioned calculation engine.
