01

House → sign → lord

In whole-sign houses, the sign occupying a house determines its ruler. If Taurus is house four, Venus is the fourth lord. The next question is where Venus is placed and in what condition—not whether house four is empty.

02

What a lord carries

A house lord carries its house topics into the house it occupies. This indicates a possible link between domains, not a guaranteed event. Dignity, conjunctions, dṛṣṭis, and timing modify the expression.

03

One graha, two portfolios

Except for Sun and Moon, classical grahas rule two signs. The same Saturn therefore has a different functional portfolio for Aries Lagna than for Taurus Lagna. Generic planet descriptions cannot replace this chart-specific role.

04

The four-line method

Write: house topics; sign and lord; lord placement and condition; occupants and incoming relationships. Only then synthesize. Astrolife's personal house guide follows this order.

Worked example

Fourth lord in the tenth

Taurus occupies house four and Venus is in house ten.

  1. Name fourth-house foundations.
  2. Venus carries those topics.
  3. Name tenth-house public duties.
  4. Check Venus's condition and relationships.
Private foundations and public roles may connect; no job or family event is invented.
Apply it

Practice on a chart

  1. Find the lords of houses one, four, seven, and ten.
  2. Complete: the topics of house X are carried toward house Y.
Check your understanding

Can you explain it?

Is an empty house inactive?

No. Its lord still carries and connects its topics.
