What Lagna is
Lagna is the zodiacal point rising on the eastern horizon at the recorded birth moment and place. The astronomical calculation first obtains the tropical Ascendant, then subtracts the selected ayanāṃśa to express it in the sidereal frame used by the natal grahas.
What Lagna controls
In whole-sign houses, the sidereal Lagna rāśi becomes house one. Changing Lagna changes every house number and house lord. The Lagna longitude is also mapped into D9 and D10, so a correction can affect multiple chart views even when graha longitudes stay unchanged.
Treat uncertainty honestly
Lagna can cross a sign boundary within minutes around some births. Astrolife requires a recorded time and should flag boundary sensitivity. It does not perform birth-time rectification or pretend an estimated time is exact.
