Twelve equal divisions
The zodiac is divided into twelve rāśis of thirty degrees each, beginning with Aries. In Astrolife the tropical longitude is adjusted by Lahiri ayanāṃśa before the rāśi is assigned, so every graha and Lagna must use the same sidereal frame.
A sign describes placement
Rāśis contribute qualities, elements, modalities, and planetary rulerships to traditional interpretation. They describe where a graha sits along the zodiac. They do not by themselves identify which area of life the placement occupies.
Sign versus house
The house comes from counting from Lagna. Aries can be the first house in one chart and the seventh in another. Astrolife therefore displays both the rāśi name and H-number rather than asking beginners to infer one from the other.
